Computer Network and User Account Changes
The Pardeeville School District technology department provides students with a user account on the Microsoft school network and now a Google Apps for Education account which for some students includes an email account.
Your username will be the same as previous years--the first 4 letters of your last name followed by the first 2 letters of your first name. There are some exceptions to this rule if two students share the same combination then we add an extra letter to one student's username. These students with exceptions will be notified.
Student accounts and passwords should be kept private and students should not let others use their accounts. If you need to change your password on the Microsoft school network then do the following:
You may press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and then click the Change Password button on the window that appears. All Microsoft passwords require an 8 digit password and they must contain 3 of the following 4 elements. An upper case letter, a lower case leter, a number or a special character. The Microsoft system will not let you change your password more than once in 24 hours.
If you need to change your password on your GAFE account then click the small arrow in the upper right hand corner next to your username and click the Account link when you logged into your GAFE account.
All student computers will now use Microsoft Office 2007. If you have earlier versions of Microsoft Office at home then use Save As when you are at school and save the document in the .doc file type instead of the default .docx (for Word documents) The same would be for PowerPoint and Excel. Use the file type in these other programs without the "X" at the end of the file type.
If you need help with your Microsoft computer login account, please have one of your teachers send a work order to the tech department or stop by the LMC and ask for assistance.
If you have trouble with your Microsoft network password then please stop in to the MS/HS LMC and Mr. Nickely will help you. If you are an Elementary student, please ask your teacher for assistance.
